How do I go about finding a publisher, for a childrens book.?

My husband is nearing the end of writing a book for children, but does not know who to go to for publication. he has had several poems and plays published and performed by entering competitions, but this is different. His work is good and I would like to be able to advise him.

Read the Children’s Writer’s and Illustrators Market. Many public libraries have it.

Tell him to get hold of a copy of "The Writer’s Marketplace". This marvelous book has an index of all publishers and agents, their requirements and contact details. He should then be able to contact any potential publishers or agents, either by phone, letter or email to see if they are accepting unsolicited manuscripts at the moment, and whether or not his book is suitable for their list.

Best of luck. It can take quite a bit of time, heartache, rejection and revision before (and if) a book is published.

My mother just wrote to as many publishers as possible and she got her poetry book published twice!
