like Cinderella, all white with turrets, are in Germany or Liechstenstein, not England as most Americans believe

    The castles you describe are ones built not in the middle ages, but castle-like chateau from the 19th century, built during the period of romanticism and neo-gothic style.

    From a architectonic view, they are considered an example of kitsch, almost as tasteless as the castle in disneyland.

    An example is Neuschweinstein in Germany.

    I know that I am not necessarily answering your question but I must say this since you taking your kids to see castles. You should try to visit King Ludwig’s castle in Switzerland! One of most beautiful!
