Are Your Children Getting Enough Exercise?

In recent years, North America has seen a decline in exercise. This includes children as well as adults. It seems that the good old days of street hockey, soccer and even school yard tag has taken a back seat to video games, texting and YouTube. Today’s youth, more and more are racing home from school and staying indoors to get their electronic “fix”.

I am by no means an old man but growing up in the 80’s, it was common to come home from school, drop off my knapsack, pick up my hockey stick and head outside to play a game of pickup. This was not something just reserved for me or for a hockey kid. Soccer in the park, baseball at that the local diamond were also a common and daily part of life for the average kid such as myself.

Now, if you look outside on any given day, you are more likely to see tumbleweeds blow by than kids enjoying the fresh air. Now, this does not mean that every child in North America has locked themselves indoors but it is a good number of them.

Daily exercise for children is important for them to start good and healthy habits. Including an exercise program in a child’s daily routines encourages a lifestyle that will help them gain confidence, strength and social interaction that playing video games cannot do. Not only does physical activity benefit the body but it also produces endorphins that help a child’s mood and stress levels. With the pressure of school and social groups, these are important in a child’s social development and confidence within themselves.

One of the problems with the decrease in Child activity and exercise is that their parents too, are busy and preoccupied with their work and technology. Many households have both parents working and their lives too are “Stop and Go”. This lifestyle often leaves less time for the family and more focus on work, resulting in less parental motivation to the kids to maintain an active lifestyle. When I was young I often spent at least a few evenings a week playing catch with my father or having a good old snowball fight. This was a nice physical activity for both father and son that was the norm in those days.

With the decline in physical activity in children in recent years, it’s not a reason to give up hope on the youth of today. Many people are starting to see that with education and resources for children, getting them back on track and in a regular active lifestyle is not that far out of reach. With more venues such as indoor playgrounds, sports facilities and even activities that can be done at home, the youth of today can still be the healthy adults of tomorrow.

I need a help with fairy tale stories about disobedience as theme?

I’m writing an essay, which is due by the next two weeks from now. I’ve been trying to think of any good examples of disobedience in the fairy tales. I’ve been searching on the internet to see if i can find any disobedience in popular present-day fairy tale stories or fairy tale movies. By the way, i’m writing an essay about comparing Alice in Wonderland to other fairy tales. I really need a help from you guys to give me out the titles based from present-day fairy tale books or movies that have theme of disobedience. If you guys included the examples of disobedience in any of fairy-tale books or movie. That would be nice!
